Jose Mourinho is getting closer to beating Manchester United to the signing of a 15 million Euro star.

According to Teamtalk, Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce is stepping up efforts to secure Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, who is also being pursued by Manchester United.

Amrabat made 30 appearances in all competitions last season for United, including 17 starts, but some of his performances fell short of expectations. He struggled at left-back and defensive midfield in several matches. Although he impressed in a few games towards the end of the season, Manchester United did not exercise the option to activate the permanent purchase clause worth £21.4 million, and Amrabat returned to Fiorentina.

With Manchester United still unsuccessful in their efforts to recruit a new midfielder, Amrabat could be a solid backup option for the Red Devils. However, if United does not quickly consider the issue of his transfer fee, they may lose their former player to coach Jose Mourinho, who is reportedly considering bringing Amrabat to Fenerbahce.

Reports indicate that Amrabat could be signed for a fee of 15 million Euros, and Turkish newspaper Fanatik claims Fenerbahce is doubling down on efforts to acquire him.

The Moroccan player caught the world’s attention with his outstanding performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, helping his national team reach the semi-finals. Subsequently, during the 2022/23 season, the former Club Brugge star agreed to join United on a season-long loan in 2023 and delivered impressive performances in the final stages of the season, including the FA Cup final against Man City.

Manchester United needs to act swiftly to avoid losing Amrabat to Fenerbahce or another club. However, under the new management, the Amrabat deal will be carefully considered and could be decided towards the end of the summer 2024 transfer window.
