According to Barca Universal, before leaving, Xavi also helped Barca save financially. Specifically, the 44-year-old coach and his assistant team decided not to receive contract compensation. The contract between Xavi and the Catalan club is valid until the end of June 2025, which means former captain Al-Sadd should have received a salary for another season (8 million euros). However, Xavi refused.
Besides Xavi Hernandez, his assistants also agreed not to receive compensation (4 million euros). Thus, they will help Barca save 12 million euros after this season. At the beginning of this season, Xavi agreed to extend his contract with Barca.
